Steel shot specifications

steel shot is to be soft steel, not prone to age hardening, having a specific gravity equal to or greater than 7.8 AISI1010 wire or equivalent.

Hardness: Rockwell superficial R15T ( 15kg.1/16" Ball) ASTM E1867. Typical average hardness must not exceed 69 and no individual reading may exceed 79. In Vickers: 110HV1 max with a 1kg.

Diameter/ Sphericity: The average diameter of each piece shall be within +/-0025”.steel shot must be round , a maximum of two flats or holes, each having a depth not exceeding .005”from the measured average diameter, are permitted on each shot surface.

SurfaceTexture: Surface of shot should be essentially smooth or slightly orange-peel.

Size and tolerances

:#9 (.080”)# 8 ,#7,# 6,# 5,# 4,# 3,# 2 ,#1,# B,# BB ,#BBB,# T,# TT ,#TTT (.220’) +/- 0.05mm.

Coating: coated with a rust preventative lubricant material . Dried coating cannot be tacky or promote adhesion between pieces of shot. Shot must be clean and free of rust and materials

Packaging: Shipping containers to be 55 gallon steel drums,2000 lbs or 1000 kgs using a poly liner with desiccant bags, and edge lever-clamp removable drum head, barrels should be sealed to provide moisture resistant protection.
